This website is an educational website with grade level activities for different subject levels. The subjects included in the website are science, social studies and language arts. For each subject, there are specific topics of interest that coordinate with curriculum for each grade level. The science topics include, light, space, animals and the topic of this unit Living and Nonliving Things.
I chose this website because there are 3 levels of information on the topic "Living and Nonliving Things." The site gives great information including; characteristics of living things, what we get from living things and nonliving things we get from living things. There are also games that the students can play that cover the information on the unit as well. I thought that the games would be a fun way for the students to absorb more of the important information. The website is easy to navigate for first grader, while being very informative. The content is relevant and covers the information that is in the text very well.
I will use this website in conjunction with the content standards about living and nonliving things. I will use some strategies with the website to enrich the learning experience for the students. One of these strategies will include a word scavenger hunt. The students will identify important vocabulary words from the website. The students will use a dictionary to define the words and then the students will look for pictures on the website and on other websites that represent the vocabulary words that they have defined. This website will be beneficial to use with the word wall strategy we are also implementing during this unit.

I chose this website because I found the quiz to be an appropriate way to evaluate how well the students are comprehending the material. I think that giving more detailed answers to the questions is a helpful way to expand the students knowledge and also lead into an introduction of the following lessons in the unit. This website had some more challening questions, but I prefer it for the interseting, interactive activity.
I want the students to use this website as a way to evaluate their knowledge, and also challenge themselves to use some higher-order thinking. The students can use this website along with anticipation guides, which promt students to become active seekers of important information on the website. The students are making predictions as they answer the questions on the quiz, and then checking the result to see if they are correct. This strategy is furthering their understanding of the material.

Plants
& Animals
Learn about plants & animals as you spot
them in an outdoor scene, discover more about where plants and animals live as

habitats that suit their characteristics, this is the same with plants, which
thrive in an environment that suits them. See if you can spot living things such
as flowers, trees, insects and birds as you complete the fun activities in this
cool, interactive science game for kids.
This is another science website with lots of different science topics and grade levels. This particular website has experiments, games, facts and lessons that the students can click on to learn about the differnt topics. This particular page about the unit on living and nonliving things has nainteractive game, the students are shown pictures and asked to click in a number of living and nonliving things.
I chose this website because it is very age appropriate and kid friendly. The options are large and color coordinated, making it eye catching for young learners. The interactive game is fun for students while expanding their understanding of the material. The website is very easy to naviagate and the students will enjoy learning a variety of topics, not just the ones in this unit while using this colorful website.
A fun strategy for this website could be to use a take on reciprocal teaching. The students can work in groups while naviagting the different elements of the website. The students can focus on the lesson and facts options that are on the website and they can teach me what they have learned. I will allow them to come up with ideas on how they will present to me and the rest of the class. This website has so many pictures, facts and videos the students have endless possibilities!
